Edit: I wrote this post prior to hearing about the tragedy in Las Vegas. At this point, I don’t even have words to explain my feelings and thoughts on the senseless violence we keep seeing. Prayers for the friends and families affected by this tragedy, and also prayers for the troubled souls with such violence in their hearts. Spread love, friends.
Hey everyone, Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend – I took Friday off so mine was a bit extended, which is making this Monday even harder. Anyone else ever go through a phase at work where it’s just daunting and not fun? I’m in that spot right now and it makes it very difficult to have a good attitude every morning – so, I’m working on that. Things at work will hopefully be changing up a bit for me soon, so I’m trying to get some motivation to power through the next month or so.
In news not about me – I got this sweater last week and I’m obsessed with the details in it. I had bought this skirt and was struggling with how I wanted to style it – my go-to is always some sort of a blazer or jacket, but the feminine details of this top really offset the edginess of the skirt and kind of pulled the look together. We’re seeing vinyl everywhere this season – kind of taking over some of the attention from leather – and when it’s done in small doses, I think it’s so cool. My style typically is not super edgy, so it was a fun buy for me, and I love how it looks with this soft, feminine Victorian-esque sweater. If vinyl isn’t your thing, the sweater looks great with jeans or any sort of fun trousers (plaid, colored, printed) that you have in your closet. Personally, I’d love it with a pair of plaid pants (wore some here last week), but I wore it with jeans last night and it was super relaxed and comfortable while still looking very put together.
Another quick note – I mentioned in the fall trends post that I did that Victorian details are very in for fall, and if that trend is a little bit daunting to you (some of the styles are to me), this is a great compromise. The blouson sleeves and mock neck incorporate the silhouette, but you don’t have any of the chiffon or lace or button or floral details – basically, any of that extra embellishment. It’s a nice understated way to stay on trend and keep it neutral and chic.
The Chiefs play on Monday Night Football tonight, so I think my family and I are going to chill (maybe eat pizza) and watch the game! While I’m home, I think my mom and I have plans every night of the week so I’m looking forward to catching up and relaxing with some of my favorite people. Hope everyone has a great start to their week!
