Hey everyone – hope you’re all having a great week! I am running on fumes over here, but feeling super productive which is always good! I have been working out regularly for a couple months, and I absolutely love it – I’ve been doing barre (I use ClassPass, but The Bar Method is my favorite studio), and I just found out that The Bar Method has an online class plan that you can purchase. My work travel situation is switching up soon, so I’m looking for a good alternative, and I think this may be great – has anyone ever done online barre classes? Any feedback? I would love to know!
On a completely random note, I wanted to chat about this dress today and also just some wedding thoughts and an update on where we are with planning. I’m not sure if anyone particularly cares about wedding planning, but I enjoy reading posts on other people’s blogs about it (probably because I’m planning one), and I could always use some feedback!
First up – this dress. I did a little poll on Instastories last week with a few items I was deciding between ordering, and I got a handful of responses suggesting this dress! I ordered another 2 items that were not good, so I am not even going to link them here for you. This dress actually looks better in person than it does in photos – good for you, bad for me and poor Dayon trying to take them, haha! But, I really like it – I was drawn to it because its got some utility vibes going on, and it’s super different from anything I have in my closet. I also like that it has fall vibes without being super heavy, since the weather still isn’t all that cool. I would recommend sizing up in this for a little more hip comfort, it doesn’t bother me (it’s narrower than I normally wear silhouette-wise, though) but I have pretty narrow hips so I can see it getting a little uncomfortable.
On to wedding planning…I’m going to have a little bit of an honesty hour with y’all – partially because it’s therapeutic, and partially because I would love some input! I’m feeling very productive, but also very overwhelmed. I am very organized and very Type-A, so I had an outline of what I wanted and where each part of our budget was going to be spent pretty early on (I guess it’s still early, we have a little over a year until the big day). To be very dramatic and quote Of Mice and Men – the best laid plans often go awry. My plans were pretty good on a lot of things, but I was so, so off on others – maybe I am naive but WHAT THE HECK to some of the quotes we have gotten! We went right into compromise mode – which is good, I am proud of us for being flexible – but dang, things are just more expensive than I really understood. For example – a day-of wedding coordinator. Just that day – $3,000 – which is way more than I estimated (like double). I am trying to get a million quotes to see if that’s overpriced or if I am just really out of the loop here. Another example – I really wanted a band, and knew some bands that I really liked. Prices for said bands were in the 5-figure range, which I totally couldn’t believe and was way more than I was expecting. For space + cost reasons, we decided to go with a DJ for the reception and live music for the ceremony, which I think is a great compromise and still gives us the vibe we are wanting for a fraction of the cost. We are minimizing the budget for flowers as much as possible (our venue is super ornate), and decided to spend a little more on photography. I am happy with how much we have done, but I am also really looking into ways to be cost-efficient and not waste on areas that don’t add that much value (I’m going all consultant-speak with wedding planning now, how charming).
So – a few questions out to you all. Is there anything you spent on when you got married that you wish you hadn’t? Is there anything super memorable you remember as a wedding guest that you loved? What are your thoughts on wedding favors? Do you prefer a wedding cake or a dessert table, or does it even matter to you? What are your thoughts on having the bar open vs. table wine service during dinner? I know this is a random assortment of questions, but if anyone has any tips or thoughts I would love to hear them! I am always researching and looking for ideas.
Sorry for all the rambling today – some mid-week musings for you all, ha! Hope everyone has a great rest of your week, see you all Friday!
